Position Summary:
The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing and coordinating banquet events to ensure exceptional guest service and smooth operations. This role supervises banquet staff, manages event setup and execution, and serves as the primary point of contact during events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Execution
- Oversee all aspects of banquet events from setup to breakdown
- Ensure rooms are set according to event specifications (BEOs – Banquet Event Orders)
- Coordinate timing of food and beverage service with kitchen staff
- Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and direct banquet servers and support staff
- Assign duties and ensure staff adhere to service standards
- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback
- Guest Service
- Act as the main point of contact for clients during events
- Ensure guest satisfaction by addressing needs and resolving issues promptly
- Maintain a professional and courteous presence at all times
- Operational Coordination
- Communicate with kitchen, sales, and event planning teams
- Ensure proper staffing levels for each event
- Inspect setup, cleanliness, and overall presentation of banquet areas
- Compliance & Standards
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Maintain company service standards and policies
Qualifications:
- Previous banquet or hospitality experience (2–4+ years preferred)
- Leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays required)
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift and carry up to 30–50 lbs
- Work in a dynamic, event-driven environment
