The RF Engineer for our Products line is responsible for working on new designs based on customer requirements and products that contribute to our portfolio of product offerings, as well as solving issues with existing designs.
The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is part of the Engineering department. This role is onsite and based in San Diego, CA.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Derive and document RF subsystem (UC, DC, PA and LNA) requirements from system or top-level requirements
- Produce RF schematics to capture the design
- Layout and/or guide the layout of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) based on schematic
- Validate the design; troubleshoot and test complex RF circuit boards and assemblies
- Develop RF test procedures, possibly performing them when needed
- Assist with manufacturing of complex PCBAs and resolve issues with their integration into higher assemblies
- Provide system integration and test troubleshooting support
- Be able to meet aggressive/accelerated schedule deadlines.
- Support internal and external design and development gate reviews with related documentation
- Support customer meetings
- Participate in proposals and trade studies, including evaluating contractor and subcontractor proposals for technical feasibility

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Master’s degree with an emphasis on RF
- 6+ years of experience in RF hardware/schematic design (preferably Altium) from UHF to Ka-band
- Experience designing LNAs and Power Amplifiers up to 10W at Ka/Ku-band
- Analysis/simulations, PCB layout (preferably Altium) and test experience from UHF to Ka-band
- Experience with RF test equipment and lab practices
- Capable of multi-tasking; working on multiple projects & supporting production activities
- Strong technical background; capable of coming up-to-speed quickly on new technologies
Preferred Qualifications: 2 maximum
- Knowledge of space environment design issues including EMI/EMC, radiation, temperature, shock, vibration a plus
- Knowledge of Python, C/C++, MATLAB & scripting/test automation a plus
- Experience with EDA software such as Altium, AWR/MWO, Genesys/ADS, etc., a plus
The good faith base salary range for this role is $125,000–$195,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
