Purpose
To manage the event operating services in The Texas Union and Hogg Memorial Auditorium. Responsible for participating with other managers in identifying, specifying, planning and supervising configuration design, user comfort and safety, and/or ticketing services required to operate professional entertainment events and/or private facility uses in a full service multi-purpose public assembly facility. Assigns and supervises tasks directly and through intermediate supervisors. Reviews and coordinates work in process. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with performers' representatives, representatives of private facility users, representatives of other outside agencies, co workers, subordinates, and other University personnel. Performs related duties as required. May interview, hire and train personnel in varied regular classified positions. May establish candidate pools, interview, hire and train personnel in extra help usher/event assistant, ticket seller, and/or other positions. May assist in delivering event operating services.
Responsibilities
- Event Operations: Serve as the on-site University Unions representative for Hogg Memorial Auditorium and Texas Union events. Support Student Organizations, University departments, Staff Organizations and the External Groups’ events to ensure the smooth and safe completion of programs at the highest professional standard. Ensure event spaces are set and ready before each reservation, checking to make sure guests’ needs are met, and oversees post event strike and clean up. Create a positive, welcoming, student-centered, and customer-service-focused event environment. Respond to and creatively resolve student and guest needs as they arise. Monitor and communicate changes in day-of event logistics. Indirectly supervise student event team.
- Event Planning and Administrative: Use Mazevo and diagramming software (Social Tables) to manage reservations in the Texas Union and Hogg Memorial Auditorium. Hold consultations with guests to help guide them through the event planning process and Texas Union and/or Hogg Memorial Auditorium Policies
- Customer Service: Answer questions in person, over the phone and through email to assist guests with event planning questions, Teas Union and/or Hogg Memorial Auditorium policies, and University of Texas at Austin resources and guidelines
- Education and Professional Development: Participate in the Professional Development programs for Longhorn students and early-career professionals. Be an active member in different Ad Hoc committees such as Student Employee Appreciate Week to maintain and contribute to University of Texas’s culture of mentorship and learning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-2 years of venue management experience or event programming experience
- Strong Customer Service mindset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work non-traditional hours
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of venue management experience or event programming experience
- Master’s Degree in Event Management, Higher Education, or applicable area
- Experience working in a higher education setting or managing a university venue
Salary
$52,500
Work Shift
Wednesday - Sunday 1pm-10pm
*Hours subject to change based on time of year
**Can be flexible depening on Event Schedule and Building Operations
