Job Description

Purpose / Objective of the Function

The Senior Process Technologist – Drying & Application Technology (R&D) provides broad technical leadership in drying processes, and related application technologies. The role supports Sales & Quotation, Engineering, Technical Services, Market Segment Management, and R&D, ensuring robust process standards, field optimization, commissioning excellence, and continuous development of digital and procedural tools.

Essential Activities

  • R&D support in Basic Research, Product Development and Lifecycle Management.
  • Support Mechanical Design and Automation Development
  • Contribute Drying Process perspective
  • Support 4-Eyes principal implementation
  • Own technology resource library (SharePoint).
  • Oversee development and proper use of drying process guidelines, sizing tools, and calculators.
  • Approve initial drafts and revisions of test plan templates and guidelines.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of sizing tools.
  • Participate in technology radar scouting.
  • Drying Solutions support in Market Segment Management, Sales, Quotations, & Technical Services
  • Provide drying process sales and quotations support.
  • Apply 4‑Eyes principle.
  • Review process specifications and supply recommendations.
  • Maintain digital toolsets.
  • Fulfilment and Technical Services support.
  • Support wet commissioning activities.
  • Perform and/or support field evaluations.
  • Troubleshoot drying systems.
  • Analyze field process data.
  • Contribute to the training plan of field/plant engineers.
  • Education and training
  • Provide oversight of process related training materials.
  • Support global trainings, workshops and drying training center activities.
  • Present externally and develop publications.

Knowledge and Skills required

Professional skills

  • Basic technical education or career
  • Degree in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Ability to solve problems in a structured way

Educational Requirements

Mandatory

Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.

  • Basic technical understanding (mechanical engineering, automation, digital, service)

Fluent in English (level C1 or equivalent)

Proficiency with IT tools such as MS Office, PDM, SAP

MS Project, M-CAD, E-CAD, PDM, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, …

M2M Basic training

Agile methodology education

Experience

Desirable

Minimum 3 years of professional experience in R&D or Process Technology setting with relevant discipline (mechanical, electrical, PLS software, software solutions, service and/or technology)

Bühler organization and process knowledge

Team management experience

Industry and technology knowledge of Bühler portfolio, and/or similar competitors’ products and services, relevant for the business area

Experience in support development projects effectively within matrix organisations
