Job Description

Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and admission of individuals who have hospital based outpatient testing or procedures.  Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.  Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database.  Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.  Participates in performance improve and CQI activities.

8:00am - 6:00pm - (4 shifts per week) with weekend and holiday rotation.

Pay based on experience starting at $16.94

ResponsibilitiesAnswers incoming phone calls.  Assists callers requiring general information.  Directs incoming calls to appropriate departments., Collects payments, records payment and forwards to the cashier., Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs., Maintain accuracy of patient status in computer system., Make patient room transfers., Pre-registers patients for scheduled admissions and outpatient procedures, obtaining authorization and verifying insurance eligibility., Provides information to the patient/representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, HIPAA and visiting hours.  Distributes hospital specific literature.  Refers patient to the Business Office when financial arrangements need to be made., Registers patients in the Electronic Medical Record.  Responsible for collecting all patient demographic information or verifying information already in the system.  Obtaining signatures on consent to treat and place an arm band on patient, Transfers & discharges patients in the Electronic Medical Record.
