About the Opportunity

The Clinical Informaticist serves as a knowledgeable practitioner, consultant, educator, and evaluator, supporting Vail Health’s shared organizational vision for clinical excellence, quality, regulatory compliance, and financial stewardship. This role provides oversight of clinical application education, optimization, and workflow adoption, ensuring technology is effectively leveraged to support safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care.

The Clinical Informaticist partners with clinical and operational stakeholders to optimize system use and usability, support data collection and reporting for clinical and regulatory needs, and deliver education and training that drives adoption, efficiency, and continuous improvement through technology.

This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three (3) days per week on site. On‑site work may flex across our Eagle, Avon, Edwards, Vail, and Dillon, Colorado locations, based on business needs and collaboration requirements.
What you will do:
  1. Consults on the analysis of requested EMR enhancements impacting single or multiple departments across the enterprise.
  2. Facilitates enhancement requests and supports translation through established governance and prioritization processes.
  3. Conducts multidisciplinary feasibility assessments to identify opportunities for system and workflow improvement, including analysis of current state practices, technical options, and downstream workflow impact.
  4. Serves as a liaison to clinically focused committees, including multidisciplinary, nursing, and provider forums.
  5. Designs and supports the implementation of education and clinical services programs, including end‑user training and onboarding for nursing and provider staff.
  6. Engages clinical and operational stakeholders to support adoption of systems and workflows; serves as a subject matter expert on solution roadmaps and optimization opportunities.
  7. Leverages clinical and operational data to inform improvements in workflow efficiency, patient safety, care delivery, financial outcomes, and system usability.
  8. Translates the impact of public policy, regulatory, or accreditation requirements into informatics practice and system configuration.
  9. Participates in on‑call rotation to provide user support in alignment with the established support framework.

What you will need:

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience required.
  • Three (3) years of IT or clinical experience supporting clinical workflows across multiple departments or service lines preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR technologies, including Epic, HIE, HL7, and FHIR, preferred.
  • Experience with systems development life cycle (SDLC), project or change management, end‑user training, and clinical workflow analysis in a healthcare environment, preferred.
  • Familiarity with chart review, clinical workflows, data analytics, and current or emerging regulatory requirements, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean or other process improvement methodologies preferred.

License:

  • One of the following is required:
    • Respiratory Therapist (RT)
    • Physical Therapist (PT)
    • Occupational Therapist (OT)
    • Registered Nurse (RN) preferred

Certification:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Board Certification in Informatics preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Nursing, computer science, or health-related field preferred.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per year.

Yearly Pay:
$83,470.40$115,190.40 USD
