Job Overview Summary
Our Summer Intern Program is aimed at providing an enriching and mutually beneficial experience that empowers young talent with the skills, knowledge, and values needed to excel in their chosen fields and prepare them for the next step in their careers. In addition to their working teams, the cohort will have regular opportunities to engage with each other and senior leaders from across Advarra to expand their networks and exposure to the business.
The Business Intelligence team has a multitude of on-going projects to support a variety of areas of the business to try to enable the ability to automate reporting capabilities in a broad and consistent fashion. Our goal is to provide insights, transparency, and education to ensure we are a data driven organization with strong data stewardship. The goal of any of our projects is to be able to curate something that provides value to the business unit we are supporting as well as other members of leadership at various levels. We hope to be able to engage our summer intern in a variety of the projects and activities listed below.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and understand data structure to drive consistent data capture and reporting
- Learn where new data modeling is required to support the business
- Follow best practice as defined by Data Engineering to support Business Analytics needs
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to gather requirements for reporting
- Support the architect of a solution to support analytics needs
- Begin to understand all development in process, even if being owned by data engineering, for appropriate tracking and project updates
- Participate in release management and deployment, where necessary
- Learn to monitor data feeds and engage with data engineering to resolve issues
Location
This role is open to candidates working in one of the following locations: Columbia, MD or surrounding area candidates working remotely in the United States.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a degree in analytics, programming, or relevant area
- Ability to participate in the cohort beginning Monday, June 1, 2026 and running through Friday, August 7, 2026 and work 40 hours per week between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm EST
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Must possess personal integrity and effective problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and goal oriented
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
- Ideally have experience with SQL, Tableau, or other coding languages
Physical And Mental Requirements
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time at stationary workstation
- Regularly carry, raise, and lower objects of up to 10 Lbs.
- Learn and comprehend basic instructions
- Focus and attention to tasks and responsibilities
- Verbal communication; listening and understanding, responding, and speaking
