About the role

Floor Covering News (FCNews), the industry’s leading publication serving flooring retailers, distributors and manufacturers, is seeking a Senior Editor to join its editorial team. This role is ideal for a versatile journalist with strong reporting instincts, sharp editing skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

The Senior Editor will be responsible for producing high-quality editorial content across print and digital platforms while contributing to the overall voice and direction of FCNews.

Key responsibilities

• Write and develop a wide range of editorial content, including breaking news, long-form features, Q&As and company spotlights.
• Edit and refine raw manuscripts for clarity, flow, readability, style and punctuation.
• Clean up and adapt press releases for publication in print and online.
• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
• Conduct interviews with high-level executives across the flooring industry, including manufacturers, distributors and retailers.
• Proofread pages prior to final production to ensure accuracy and consistency (AP Style familiarity preferred).
• Pitch and develop creative story ideas for both print features and digital news coverage.
• Post and promote content across social media channels.
• Publish and optimize content via WordPress with an understanding of SEO best practices.
• Source and coordinate artwork and visuals for editorial content across platforms.
• Travel as needed, including overnight trips for industry events and on-site coverage.

Qualifications

• Strong writing and editing background with the ability to adapt tone across formats
• Experience in journalism, publishing or a related field
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Confidence in interviewing and engaging with senior-level industry professionals
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress preferred) and social media publishing
• Understanding of AP Style is a plus
• B2B experience preferred
