Job Description BAE Systems is on the lookout for a talented Principal Electrical Engineer specializing in NAVY Power Infrastructure to contribute to high-profile U.S. Navy facility development and construction projects. Key Responsibilities: This crucial role involves overseeing military construction (MILCON) project development, compliance and constructability reviews, and the integration of specific requirements into the electrical designs of various project phases.
As a pivotal member of our team, you will support the Navy Program Manager in Facilities Acquisition for the Strategic Systems Planning (SSP) at TRIDENT Submarine Bases. Your role will entail leading electrical design efforts that ensure new industrial facilities are effectively integrated into the Navy’s electrical power grid, particularly for ballistic missile submarines.
You will
- Develop comprehensive MILCON documents, including DD1391 forms and construction estimates.
- Lead efforts in complex electrical design documentation to ensure facilities meet mission requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address and resolve facility design and integration challenges.
- Engage in working groups to streamline processes across stakeholders.
- Generate formal correspondence with both internal and external parties.
- Support other engineering activities as necessary.
- Work alongside corporate Safety, Health, and Environment teams to maintain a compliant and safe work environment.
This role may include occasional travel to support design meetings and studies as needed.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program and at least six years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience with medium voltage equipment design, generators, substations, and transformers.
- Professional experience designing electrical grounding systems for industrial facilities.
- Strong technical writing skills for producing engineering documentation.
Technical Proficiency: Although a Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required, the successful candidate must be willing to pursue it after joining our team.
Communication Skills
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and negotiation.
- Capability to exercise discretion and sound judgment in compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of electrical codes (NFPC, NEC).
- Experience applying Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for design documentation.
- Proficient in developing construction design packages and using ETAP® or SKM software.
- Experience in lightning protection systems, emergency power systems, and load analysis.
- Proficient with the MS Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
