Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences seeks licensed massage therapists who are interested in training to prepare and deliver massage curricula to adult students studying Massage Therapy.
Candidate will serve as a teaching apprentice for 120 hours and then a teaching assistant for at least 120 hours in assigned courses as scheduled in accordance with current department-approved course descriptions, course outlines, syllabi, and procedures.
Duties for the apprentice/assistant include
- Competency in use and maintenance of learning management systems Canvas & VIAS
- Grading of homework assignments, session reports and exams.
- Training in appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
- Communicates progress in the course to students in a timely manner and assists in the identification of students with academic or other needs, and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource.
- Assistants will be required to teach at least 2 lessons in the courses they are assisting.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- NYS Licensed Massage Therapist at least 2 years
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively and professionally with other faculty, students and staff
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
- Possess a high degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, procedures, regulations and approved curriculum.
- Must be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task
- Ability to adhere policies, procedures and course curricula.
