The Position: Project Manager- Environmental Scientist/ Biologist

Type: Regular

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and implement federal, provincial, and municipal permits and approvals.
  • Support environmental permitting and compliance related to fish and fish habitat, wetlands, watercourses, wildlife, and Species at Risk.
  • Conduct and oversee environmental inspections and construction environmental monitoring (CEM/EM).
  • Provide on‑site environmental support during clearing, grading, in‑water works, and vegetation management.
  • Prepare and review regulatory‑focused deliverables, including:
  • Aquatics and fisheries assessments
  • Wildlife surveys and reporting
  • Wetland delineation and impact assessments
  • EPPs, ECO Plans, CEMPs, and compliance documentation
  • Support environmental sampling programs (soil, water, sediment, waste) and associated reporting.
  • Participate in spill response, incident reporting, and regulatory follow‑up.
  • Liaise with regulators, Indigenous communities, and internal project teams.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to internal procedures and compliance best practices.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

  • 6–10 years of environmental consulting or applied environmental experience with a regulatory focus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or related field.
  • Appropriate professional designations in good standing, for ex. RPBio (BC), P.Biol. (AB).
  • Experience applying legislation such as the Fisheries Act, Water Act, Wildlife Act, Public Lands Act, SARA, MBCA.
  • Practical experience in aquatics, wildlife, and/or wetland assessment and reporting.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Time management, accountability, and ability to control conflicting priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for field work.
