Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Transportation Heavy Equipment Mechanic Equipment Inspector/ Tester to support a government contract based in Jacksonville, Florida at Mayport.
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs duties described in the Service Contract Act Service Order Transportation Heavy Equipment Mechanic Equipment Inspector/ Tester. May perform duties of other classifications that have a pay rate equal to or lower than the employee’s current rate.
DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. This worker operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. The mechanic welds broken parts and structural members, may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines. Completes documentation to include work performed for work orders and Purchase Requisitions, Inspection sheets as well as other documents.
Essential Function: AMENTUM equipment, Fire trucks, forklifts, Navy equipment as well as GSA equipment. Performs work in the other areas of Transportation such as wash rack and light shop.
Marginal Function: May perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years' experience in Heavy Equipment.
Ability to understand and apply instructions written in English. Ability to use tools and equipment common to the carpentry trade.
Certificate/License/Registration:
NAVFAC P307 - Cat 3 Non-cab operator and rigger, Mobile Crane Mechanic, General inspector, Crane Electrician, Load Test Director, Category 1 Crane Mechanic
Forklift Operator Certification
Working Platform Certification
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting: Up to 50 lbs, 25%
Climbing: occasionally required to perform repairs and inspections
Crawling: occasionally required to perform repairs and inspections
Special clothing/equipment (wearing): Slip resistant hardened toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection in designated areas, 100%
Unusual physical requirements: Sitting (50%), Standing (75%), Bending (25%), stooping (25%)
High noise level: 25%
Personal Protective Equipment will be required.
