Senior Research Manager

Seoul, Korea

About the Job

Total competency and responsibility for research design, planning and analysis  

Client management and development 

First point of contact for the client on a project 

Run projects with minimal senior supervision  

Line management responsibility and some involvement in departmental management, including being a representative/ advocate for the department

Job Goals 

Development of Client relationships: 

Maintain and nurture client relationships  

Develop new business from existing clients 

Good understanding of client business and market 

Manage and promote delivery to client expectations  

 

Financial management 

Accountable for managing projects and team to drive positive GM and profit 

Pricing for success and profit 

Works with internal and external clients to identify cost effective solutions 

 

Proposal process:  

Accountable for creation and integrity of proposal and pitch (focus on benefits) 

Responsible for turning complex research approaches into workable & profitable solutions 

Recognise opportunities to generate requests for proposals, maximising if possible 

Creative design to budget, while maximising opportunities to sell and cross sell 

Demonstrate research & marketing expertise to inspire clients and team 

 

Project management 

Suggest process improvements to suppliers and team 

Drive integration of team members to deliver excellence 

Clarify and manage roles and budget within project team 

Oversee change to meet business and client needs  

Manage the creation & review of materials to meet client needs  

Direct the team’s efforts in the most effective use of analytic processes and research methodologies to address clients’ business issues 

 

Analysis/reporting:  

Generate insight and recommendations that demonstrate knowledge of client’s world and are based on client need 

Analyse data patterns in detail to understand significance and identify appropriate action (Quality Assurance) 

Ensure client deliverables meet expectations and needs; deliver excellence 

Constant delivery of strong consumer insights to clients 

 

Leadership, team and people management: 

Manage and assist team in developing account strategy  

Seek opportunities to share learning and coach/mentor team 

Ensure direct reports have objectives & development plans to support team goals and company strategy  

Assist in recruitment and development of staff in line with team and company needs 

 

Communication:  

Actively listen and communicate openly with clients and internal teams 

Clearly and persuasively communicate complex issues, internally and externally 

Clearly and accurately write reports, presentations and proposal documents 

Deliver client presentations 

Ideal Skills and Capabilities: 

At least 7~ 11 years' experience in Market Research, either agency or client side  

Knowledge of corporate financials 

Good knowledge of marketing and research  

Some knowledge of Industry would be of great advantage 

 

Skills: 

Confident analysis and presentation skills 

Ability to advise the client and solve problems 

Good Negotiation skills 

Strong proposal and writing skills  

Strong project management skills 

Excellent project management skills  

Independent and creative thinking 

Confident client communication skills 

Promote team spirit and group success 

Effective delegation and on the job coaching skills 

Takes responsibility for specific team development areas
