SAP GTS Functional Analyst, Global Trade - Assistant Manager

We are seeking a driven SAP GTS Functional Analyst to join our dynamic Foreign Trade organization as we transition to a more agile way of working.

This is more than a support role; you will be a key player in shaping and optimizing our global Foreign Trade control processes. You will act as the vital bridge between our trade compliance experts and our IT development teams, ensuring our systems are efficient, effective, and compliant.

 

Your Impact and Key Projects:

 

• Drive Process Automation: Champion initiatives to automate and improve our export control processes, moving our global trade operations forward.
• Enhance Our Global Trade Velocity and Compliance: Your mission will be to turn business challenges into strategic system improvements. You will analyze critical compliance functions within SAP GTS to identify bottlenecks and risks, then design and champion solutions that enable faster, more compliant international trade. You will be empowered to find smarter ways of working and translate them into reality.
• Shape Solutions: Be the central point of contact between our business users and IT. You will gather business requirements, translate them into clear functional specifications, and play a key role in designing solutions within SAP GTS among other Foreign Trade IT tools
• Ensure Quality from End-to-End: You will coordinate and execute testing cycles, identify system defects, and ensure a smooth transition for new deployments from migration through to the go-live and stabilization phases.

 

What You'll Be Doing Day-to-Day:

• Collaborating with business users to understand their challenges and requirements.
• Authoring detailed functional requirement documents for our IT partners.
• Owning the testing process for new functionalities to ensure they are bug-free and meet business needs.
• Providing crucial post-go-live support and driving process improvements during hypercare.
• Leading and coordinating the deployment of small to medium-sized solutions within our SAP GTS landscape.

• Experience: 5 – 8 years of hands-on functional experience with SAP GTS, specifically with the Compliance Management (SPL/Legal Control) modules.
• Core Knowledge: Understanding of Export Control regulations (e.g., EU, US, BAFA) and general foreign trade principles.
• The Bridge to IT: You are comfortable working with technical teams. You know how to write effective requirements and have experience in system testing. You understand how SAP configuration works, even if you don't do it yourself.
• Integration Expertise: Proven knowledge of how SAP GTS integrates with core ERP processes in SD, MM, and FI.
• Mindset: You have an E2E process-oriented mindset and a passion for creating user-friendly solutions. You are organized, results-driven, and skilled at seeing a topic through from analysis to completion.
• Adaptability: Experience working in both traditional (Waterfall) and Agile/Scrum environments is a significant plus, as we are currently on that journey.
• Communication: Fluent in English (spoken and written). Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.

Additional Information

• Sound knowledge of Export Control Regulations/ Foreign Trade
• Expert knowledge of SAP - SD/MM Processes
• 5-8 years of experience
• Process management experience and IT know-how
• Very good knowledge of SAP GTS and its integration into SD/MM/FI
• Broader process understanding (E2E process thinking)

 

 

• Fluent in English (spoken and written), German would be a plus;
• Strong communication and presentation skills, straightforward, reliable;
• Target oriented, well organized, willingness to take user perspective, ability and desire to understand processes in details;
• Passion for pioneering new approaches and interacting with people, passion for easy-to-use software solution in GTS and third party software
