Job Description:

We are looking for a Production Operative / Engineering Technician to join our Manufacturing team. This role involves mechanical assembly, machine building, fitting, and preparation of equipment for testing and dispatch. You will work with large mechanical components, tools, measuring equipment, and engineering drawings to build high-quality products safely and accurately.

Key responsibilities:

  • Following EHS procedures and contributing to a safe working environment

  • Mechanical fitting and machine building for test and dispatch

  • Assembly of large mechanical components and sub-assemblies

  • Frame preparation, including instrumentation, auxiliary boxes, and wiring

  • Bearing assembly, pipe fitting, and machine alignment

  • Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Electrical assembly, including wire stripping, crimping, and soldering

  • Fabrication activities such as grinding, drilling, tapping, and metal finishing

  • Operating workshop machinery and tools, including CNC machines

  • Accurate measurement of components using micrometres, Vernier gauges, and other precision tools

  • Reading and working from engineering drawings and schematics

  • Completing quality documentation and recording technical data

  • Operating overhead cranes (training provided)

  • Maintaining a clean and tidy work area in line with 5S standards

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in mechanical assembly, fitting, or manufacturing

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics

  • Experience using precision measuring equipment and working to tight tolerances

  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and pressure systems

  • Confident using hand tools, air-powered tools, and electrical equipment

  • Ability to work accurately, meet quality standards, and achieve production targets

  • Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude

  • Experience with rotating machinery or welding would be an advantage, but training can be provided
