Job Description
The Engineer – ISM provides advanced technical support for enterprise infrastructure environments. Your role will involve diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex systems when issues are escalated beyond first‑line support. The engineer will work with field engineers, technicians, and product support teams to resolve system malfunctions, report design or reliability issues, and support customer installation and training activities. You are expected to have technical expertise in highly sophisticated environments.
Your Responsibilities:
1. System Administration
Maintain VMware, Nutanix AHV, and Red Hat environments.
Administer, configure, and monitor virtual machines using vCenter.
Configure and manage virtual and storage environments across multiple data centres.
2. Product Management
Plan, coordinate, and execute installations, upgrades, patches, and hotfixes.
Help deploy application software and hardware on server and desktop platforms.
3. Security & Hardening
Implement security best practices and system‑hardening techniques following defined procedures.
Maintain compliance with organisational policies.
4. Backup & Recovery
Ensure regular backups are performed and validated.
Support disaster recovery (DR) processes and documentation.
5. Incident & Problem Management
Troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate incidents following ITSM/ITIL processes.
Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents.
Provide technical support to teams when first‑line support is unable to resolve issues.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate system documentation, architecture diagrams, and configuration records.
Provide regular updates and reports on system health, incidents, and maintenance activities.
7. Project & Cross‑Functional Support
Collaborate with project teams to design and implement Linux‑based solutions.
Support mission‑critical server and storage environments (SAN/NAS technologies).
Support customer/user training for technical products.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline
Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in system administration, especifically with VMware and Nutanix.
Expertise in Instal, configure, securing, and monitoring VMware vSphere ESXi clusters, and Windows Server 2019 or later (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File & Print Services)
Experience supporting large‑scale or critical server/storage environments (SAN/NAS).
Experience installing and configuring applications and software.
Familiarity with Nutanix AHV, Red Hat, and enterprise Linux environments (preferred).
Certification (Preferred): VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
