With significant growth and exciting national projects underway, we’re expanding our engineering leadership team in Adelaide.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Principal Electrical Engineer, this role sits at the core of Clarke’s engineering capability. You’ll manage a multi-skilled electrical engineering team delivering EPC projects across high-voltage environments including 11kV, 33kV and 66kV systems.

You'll be the bridge between hands-on engineering leadership and organisational excellence, while guiding technical delivery, mentoring junior and mid level engineers, driving consistent design direction, supporting tenders, ensuring compliance and leading continuous improvement.

This role is office based in Adelaide due to the team leadership component, with occasional interstate and remote travel for design reviews, risk workshops, site assessments and commissioning activities.

This role also presents a clear career pathway into a senior principal position.

About the Person

You're a highly capable and confident engineer who can operate comfortably at a technical, people, and organisational level.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and draftspersons across multiple concurrent projects.
• Ensure electrical design and documentation meet company, statutory and customer requirements.
• Support tender activity including scoping, estimating and stakeholder engagement.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, including coaching, goal setting and performance reviews.
• Oversee procurement, commissioning and supplier coordination.
• Drive engineering standards, templates and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and site-based commissioning.
• Provide technical leadership through full project lifecycle from concept to handover.
• Support existing operating sites with maintenance investigations and engineering input.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (essential).
• Chartered (CPEng) and RPEQ registered.
• Demonstrated high voltage engineering experience (11kV/33kV/66kV preferable).
• Proven leadership experience - mentoring, coaching, and delegating confidently.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capability.
• Familiarity with utility or energy generation environments.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering (essential).

• Demonstrated high voltage engineering experience (11kV/33kV/66kV preferable).
• Proven leadership experience - mentoring, coaching, and delegating confidently.

• Proficient across relevant engineering software platforms
• Ability to travel interstate on a periodic basis.
