Description:
*Provide medical nutrition therapy including nutrition assessment, diet modification, nutrition education, and intervention for patients.
*Incorporate current evidence-based research into practice, utilizing the Nutrition Care Process
*Displays strong communication skills and ability to interact in a positive manner with physicians, patients, families, and other hospital staff.
*Actively contributes to departmental initiatives, including committees and projects.
*Must be able to participate as a team member of the interdisciplinary team
Education/License/Certification Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university with major in Foods and Nutrition or a closely related field or equivalent. Master’s Degree as required by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (effective Jan. 1, 2024) or bachelor’s degree grandfathered prior to this update.
Licensure
Minimum: Dietetic Registration Eligible. Must be able to pass RD examination within one year of date of hire.
Preferred: Proof of Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Special Skill / Aptitudes
Technical, human relations, conceptual and management skills and the ability to apply principles of dietetics and nutrition in a variety of formats.
Able to perform duties within the guidelines of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics practice standards.
Excellent customer service orientation skills are necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
Experience
One-year full-time professional dietetics experience preferred
