Position Title: Desktop Publishing Specialist
Reports to: Taiwan Branch Manager
Department: Operations
Work Location: Tainan City, Taiwan
Position Summary
This position reports to the Taiwan Branch Manager and provides support for all Desktop Publishing (DTP) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities at LanguageLine.
Primary Duties
Using typesetting tools (FrameMaker, Word, QuarkXpress, Indesign etc.) to accomplish DTP/format/layout tasks.
Using image tools (Illustrator, PhotoShop, PaintShop, ImageReady etc.) to edit images.
Solve any technical/design problems and help other team members
Lead project-specific DTP/QA teams, report to the project manager, to ensure the on-time and on-budget completion of assigned DTP/QA tasks.
Provide desktop publishing and/or QA services for projects and in-house activities.
Support the Taiwan Branch manager in project coordination tasks.
Support Marketing by providing graphic design expertise to ensure marketing materials are designed and produced to advertising and marketing requirements and deadlines.
Ensure DTP/QA tasks are completed on time and within budget.
Aid the Taiwan Branch manager in monitoring the functional activities of contractors working on DTP/QA.
Provide support to the System Administrator for DTP computing needs (including Macintosh administration and software inventory).
Support LLTS’ Quality Management System (QMS) to continually improve the Division’s processes, procedures and services; and thereby increase efficiency, productivity, effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
Other duties may be assigned by the Taiwan Branch Manager or VP of Operations, as required.
Requirements
Proficient in English writing and reading.
In office position
Complete familiarity with both Mac OS and Windows operating systems.
Expert knowledge of DTP and graphic arts software such as Quark, Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and related software applications.
Detail oriented.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Appropriate Education and Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of three years DTP/QA experience.
Working experience with PCs and Mac platforms.
Experience in document localization a plus.
