Data Engineer I

Overview Please note this position is based in our Phoenix, AZ Support Office. The Data Engineer I will work on all phases of the software development lifecycle supporting a variety of projects and applications. This role will be a mid-level position, with an expectation of continuing to build technical skills with increasingly more complexity and responsibility on projects. Candidates for this position will have prior experience delivering efficient, secure, high performance, and easy-to-support solutions primarily within the Microsoft suite of technologies. Overview of Responsibilities • Analyze, fix, and test production support tickets for a variety of systems • Maintain existing data warehouse objects • Work with a cross functional team to understand the business issues or identify opportunities and gather SQL Design and Bl system requirements • Design and implement additions and modifications to existing applications • Support data marts and cubes to support functional area data consumers • Support data pipelines and Synapse environment • Gather, analyze, and document user reporting and/or data feed requirements • Perform any other assigned tasks deemed necessary by management • Communicate with peers within the department involving obtaining or providing information Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience • 1-3 years of experience with Microsoft SQL technologies and Microsoft Azure technologies including Power BI • 1+ years of experience with cloud-based solutions and/or hybrid connectivity • Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills, and ability to work on cross-functional teams • Solid understanding and usage of source control solutions • Change and release management skills • Requirements gathering and documentation skills Technical Skills: • Databases - MS SQL Server • Tools - Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Azure DevOps, Redgate, Power BI, Azure Data Lake, Azure API Gateway, Informatica • Languages - SQL, DAX, PowerShell • Other - SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio Core Competencies: • Communication: Convey information, ideas, and feedback clearly and concisely in an engaging manner that helps others understand and retain the message; listening actively to others. • Customer Focus: Place a high priority on the customer’s perspective when making decisions and taking action; implementing service practices that meet the customers’ and own organization’s needs. • Driving for Results: Set SMART goals and measure progress; tenaciously working to meet or exceed goals and making continuous improvement.
