Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education, and community service goals of the University. The Enterprise Student Management Systems (ESMS) division within OIT provides operational, application development and maintenance support for the systems applications and technical assets used by six large, complex and mission critical business units: Financial Aid and Scholarships, Financial Services, Graduate Division, Office of the Registrar, Summer Session, and Undergraduate Admissions. Your Role on the Team Under the general supervision of the Manager, Financial Aid IT, the Application Programmer applies skills as a seasoned, experienced software professional with a full understanding of industry practices, community standards and relevant policies and procedures to medium-sized projects or portions of large projects with moderate scope and complexity. Resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates competency in selecting tools, methods and techniques to obtain results. Primary technology stack includes VB.Net, ASP.Net, Groovy, T-SQL, PL/SQL, MVC, RESTful and includes application development and operational support tools including GitHub, Jenkins, ASG Zena, Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) / Oracle BI Publisher (BIP), Oracle APEX (Application Express) and MFT. What It Takes to be Successful Required: Intermediate knowledge of secure software development. Advanced skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts, specifically with VB.Net, MS T-SQL, PL/SQL, Groovy, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) / Oracle BI Publisher (BIP), Oracle APEX (Application Express) and shell scripting. Experienced developing applications following secure coding and data protection best practices and norms. Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans. Demonstrated ability to interface with management on a regular basis. Demonstrated ability to contribute technical narrative to grant proposals. Thorough experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums. Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms. Demonstrated software repository skills. Demonstrated testing and test planning skills. Thorough experience with common programming tools. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications and a formal Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Experienced debugging, testing, and validating accuracy of developed applications and code. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to mentor junior developers and other IT staff. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrated broad problem solving skills. Thorough experience with databases design concepts, data modeling, and MS T-SQL. Demonstrated ability to create, modify, and maintain database objects include complex queries, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, etc. Working knowledge of version control software for branching, merging.
