Overview This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of our Santa Monica or Boston office. Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include underwriting and executing new transactions as well as portfolio management. The team provides creative leveraged capital solutions to private equity clients in support of their investments in the technology sector. Essential Functions Underwriting & Credit Management - Assist in underwriting new and existing transactions by maintaining systems and exhibits, creating initial due diligence lists, preparing financial models and memo charts, progressing to writing memoranda and process coordination with key partners including credit, middle office (MO) & operations. Address inquiries from stakeholders on calculations and financial metrics and present lower risk requests directly to credit. Act as primary liaison with MO and operations as applicable. Portfolio Management, Data Integrity & Strategic Initiatives - Ensure receipt of financial reporting by required due dates, or obtain extension, and review to ensure accuracy and completeness. Compare financial reporting to the underwriting model and report material deviations or reporting issues. Prepare and distribute trend card highlighting material deviations to plan and items for follow up with the Company. Present all deals at portfolio review with limited input from more senior team members absent specific updates & circumstances. Proactively update pipeline report, internal trackers, and strategic projects as applicable. Ensure data integrity across systems and work to correct discrepancies. Proactively track and ensure timely completion and status communication of key projects and reports. Underwriting Financial Modeling – generates projection models based on financial sponsor or internal assumptions with substantial analysis of historical financials. Due Diligence – review target company and sponsor provided materials including historical financials, management presentations, CIMs, etc.; review 3rd party materials including Quality of Earnings & Recurring Revenue Reports; generate diligence request lists to cover questions arising from review of materials while identifying gaps in provided information. Prepare loan packages for approvals including utilization of SVB’s systems. Utilizes analysis and independent judgment to generate recommendations to VP/Directors. Assist with driving internal deal approval process alongside VP/Director. Portfolio Management Ensure timely and accurate reporting from portfolio companies. Manage/create credit files for internal compliance, Fed reviews, and internal reporting. Prepare documents and presentations for quarterly portfolio reviews and ad hoc internal reviews. Research and analyze information as directed including updating and maintaining portfolio analytics and credit statistics. External Responsibilities Participate on calls with Sponsor and management teams at portfolio companies. Required Skills Highly proficient at researching information and identifying trends and anomalies. Extremely adept at understanding and interpreting requests. Strong understanding of financial accounting with financial modeling experience. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Highly skilled at developing strong, positive relationships with external clients and internal partners. Excellent communication skills capable of explaining information in a clear and concise manner while adapting delivery depending on the audience and influencing decisions in the best interest of the client. Professional, thorough, and organized with strong follow-up skills. Excels in a team environment and very proactive in responding to clients. Demonstrates initiative, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to adapt to changing demands and requirements. Responds positively and quickly to constructive feedback. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of related experience in leveraged finance, investment banking, or commercial finance OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of leveraged finance, investment banking, or commercial finance. Preferred Qualifications • 2+ or more years’ experience in either a leveraged finance, investment banking, or commercial finance role. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Formal credit training program preferred. For Santa Monica and Boston, the base pay for this position is generally between $112,650-$150,200 per year. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
