Design the Systems That Bring Smart Buildings to Life
In this role, you’ll be at the center of designing, configuring, and delivering advanced building control systems that power today’s smart, connected facilities. You’ll own the technical execution of integrated systems—including fire, security, lighting, nurse call, data networks, and other low‑voltage subsystems—ensuring every solution meets project intent from concept to commissioning.
You’ll serve as a trusted technical partner to field teams, accountable for the quality, efficiency, and on‑time delivery of designs while translating complex system functionality into clear, usable solutions for customers and stakeholders.
How You’ll Make an Impact
System Design & Engineering Excellence
Design and configure technically complex building control systems in alignment with contract documents and project requirements.
Develop detailed flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics.
Create, test, and refine advanced software programs to ensure reliable system operation.
Commissioning & Technical Support
Load, commission, and validate system‑level and network‑level controllers.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues alongside subcontractors and other trades to ensure complete system functionality.
Provide field change documentation to support accurate as‑built drawings and final software delivery.
Project Coordination & Execution
Prepare and manage technical submittals, installation drawings, and equipment schedules.
Select, order, and track materials to support project schedules.
Coordinate factory‑mounted equipment and ensure alignment with project timelines.
Participate in project release meetings and maintain ongoing communication with management, contractors, and customers regarding status and risks.
Customer & Field Engagement
Clearly communicate system design and operation to customers, consultants, installers, and internal teams.
Support site‑specific training for owners and operators on total building control systems.
Perform value engineering to deliver cost‑effective solutions while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Safety & Quality Leadership
Adhere to all safety standards and champion a strong safety culture.
Maintain a high level of safety awareness for employees and subcontractors.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or an Associate Degree in a related technical field with 7 years of experience.
Strong knowledge of the construction, mechanical, electrical, or HVAC service industry.
Demonstrated expertise in mechanical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, control theory, building automation systems, and related subsystems.
Experience integrating low‑voltage systems using industry protocols such as BACnet and LON.
Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Advanced computer skills, including drafting tools such as Visio.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or an Associate Degree with 7+ years of experience.
Knowledge of IP networking for building automation systems.
Experience with the Tridium/Niagara Framework.
