Description of Work

Reporting to Maintenance Construction Supervisor II the primary purpose of this position is to provide grounds maintenance and assist with routine, preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and repair within an Adult Correctional Facility. Job responsibilities include the following:

- Ensuring that assigned property, systems, and buildings are maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performing grounds maintenance and small engine repair.
- Working knowledge of herbicides and pesticides.
- Assisting with repair tasks that require experience in general building trades such as carpentry, cabinet making, roofing, or painting.
- Supervising the work of semi-skilled and unskilled labor to assist them in completing assigned tasks and provide support to other staff members performing trade skills during preventive maintenance or other duties assigned by the supervisor as deemed necessary.

Salary Range: $35,596 - $62,294

About the Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Tabor Correctional Institution is located in Tabor City, North Carolina and houses up to 1,752 male offenders in a close, medium, and minimum custody facility.
