NC17 Salary Range: $58,613-$75,121

Job Duties:
Analysis Research and External Affairs: The primary purpose of the Analysis, Research, and External Affairs section is to create unified messages for the Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention through communication to staff, stakeholders, partners, and the public such that budget priorities, grants and research, policy and special projects are effectively directed towards the same goals and outcomes. External affairs within the section ensures like communication to state legislators, local leaders and stakeholders, and NC General Assembly support staff. This section performs or facilitates analysis of programs, services, and policies; creates strategic partnerships with educational and research entities; creates and trains staff and stakeholders on business analytic resources; and produces or coordinates JJDP legislative reports and research briefs. This section coordinates Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) activities and manages juvenile records requests.
The primary purpose of the position is to administer the statewide program to prevent, detect, and respond to sexual abuse and sexual harassment of juveniles in the care and custody of NCDPS-Juvenile Justice. Work involves the planning and supervising of the technical, administrative, and clerical activities of the Division’s Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) efforts and evaluating procedures to measure performance and to assure efficient and effective direction of services and resources.
This position consults with both internal and external program stakeholders, performs public safety related policy analysis, evaluation, and technical assistance; develops, and provides recommendations for agency policies, procedures, and regulatory proposals. The position establishes and maintains contact with senior and division level management to ensure full communication of the program.
This position requires a commitment to the safety of juveniles and their right to be free from abuse and harassment, and to trauma-informed principles of care. Additional responsibilities include helping Division Management develop new policies and review existing policies, researching, and gathering data to clarify issues, identifying alternatives, and developing strategies designed to cultivate professional development and aid in the elimination of sexual abuse and sexual harassment per PREA statute and policy. The position may also review and prepare economic and operational impact assessments, and analyses of existing and proposed local, state, and federal legislation and regulations. This position will also lead the development, presentation, evaluation, and approval of program specific training. This position provides training on PREA and special populations.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. This position does require overnight travel.

Military Experience
