Position Overview:

The Materials Manager oversees all activities related to the receipt, storage, and flow of materials into the organization and across the main plant operations. This role interacts with the procurement team to ensure that materials arrive on time, in full, and of the right quality to support production and operational needs. The manager leads internal flow of materials from dock to stock to point of use while maintaining inventory control, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the inbound supply chain.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage all inbound freight operations, including scheduling, tracking, and receiving materials.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Oversee unloading, inspection, and storage processes to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels to support production without excess stock.
  • Implement inventory control processes such as FIFO, and material traceability.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure efficient layout, storage, and material handling.
  • Work closely with procurement, production planning, and operations to forecast material needs.
  • Develop inbound logistics plans aligned with production schedules and business goals.
  • Identify risks in the supply chain and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze inbound logistics data to identify bottlenecks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Implement digital tools and systems to enhance visibility and efficiency.
  • Lead and develop a team of material supervisors, inventory analysts, material handlers, and warehouse staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements.

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in inbound logistics, materials management, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and logistics software.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, electronics, or similar industries.
  • Certifications such as APICS CPIM/CSCP, Six Sigma, or Lean.
  • Knowledge of international logistics, customs, and import regulations.

The hiring range for this position is $103,200 to $144,000 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
