What will you be doing?
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned, developmentally appropriate lessons in English and Spanish that foster creativity, curiosity, and mastery of kindergarten content and language objectives.
- Provide engaging individual and small-group instruction that supports diverse academic, linguistic, and social-emotional needs of young learners.
- Implement the school’s dual language model with fidelity, including clear language allocation, explicit language objectives, and opportunities for biliteracy development.
- Create a structured, inclusive, and linguistically affirming classroom environment that promotes respect, creativity, collaboration, and academic growth across languages.
- Model emotional intelligence and strong oral language, communication, and listening skills in both languages to support positive classroom culture and language development.
- Establish and maintain routines, transitions, and classroom systems appropriate for kindergarten learners.
- Manage classroom supplies and instructional materials to ensure scholars have equitable access to resources that support learning in both languages.
- Assess and evaluate scholar work using developmentally appropriate tools in English and Spanish, and provide constructive, actionable feedback to support continuous growth.
- Stay current with educational research and best practices in early childhood education, dual language instruction, and culturally responsive teaching through ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrate cultural and linguistic awareness by ensuring curriculum, materials, and classroom experiences are representative, inclusive, and equitable.
- Collaborate with co-teachers, ESL/bilingual staff, special education teams, and remain informed about Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) and Special Services as needed.
- Participate in school- and organization-wide events that strengthen family and community engagement, including bilingual family outreach and school activities.
What do we require from you?
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
- Must possess NJ certification in Elementary P–3 or Elementary K–6 by start date.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (oral and written).
- New Jersey Bilingual/Bicultural Endorsement or proven eligibility by start date.
- 2+ years working in an urban education setting preferred.
- Must have a track record of measurable success and achievement.
