ABOUT THE POSITION We are looking for a high-energy individual to join our rapidly growing division. The Capacity and Compliance Manager will be responsible for leading the strategy of identifying and onboarding partner providers to support lines of business. These partnered providers will be required to meet specific qualifications and meet specified performance metrics that are required by the network.
Key responsibilities will include
Strategic Carrier Relationships
- Evaluate the division’s carrier network at the highest level to decrease risk to the company and increase capacity.
- Identify dedicated carriers as either a strategic partner, a growth partner, a limited partner, or a transactional partner and create a plan to elevate carriers from being transactional partners.
- Establish and foster relationships with the owners of these identified carriers.
- Identify new carriers based on their strategic profile and qualifications to be onboarded into the network.
- Develop and grow these carriers within the network through fostering relationships and through opportunities.
Sourcing Activities
- Target strategic carriers for onboarding and utilization throughout the network.
- Monitoring incumbent carrier rates to ensure market alignment.
- Implementing and executing strategic sourcing strategies.
- Establish a formally bid process for carriers to participate.
Pricing
- Gather and analyze data on market trends, historical pricing data and capacity behavior to identify patterns and inform pricing decisions across the network.
- Evaluate and report on costs associated with various markets, considering factors such as fuel fluctuations, lane density, and available capacity.
- Collaborate with teams to complete RFPs timely and effectively to win business and maximize margin.
- Leads coordinated sourcing events to decrease cost to the organization and improve pricing consistency.
Performance and Service Compliance
- Establish carrier scorecards for dedicated carriers and provide weekly and monthly scorecards.
- Managing carrier’s performance at a lane level.
- Managing all carrier performance to the expectations of the network and the customer.
- Coordinating carrier performances meetings accordingly.
ABOUT THE KPIS
This role is accountable to the following metrics of success:
- Margin: Identifying opportunities to increase margin through identifying qualified capacity, onboarding qualified capacity, establishing relationships with carriers, and reducing spot market coverage.
- Service: This is the highest priority in the network and carrier performance will be a main priority. It will be important to identify the right capacity, establish the right carrier base, and manage carriers to the network expectations.
- Carrier Growth: Increasing daily and weekly volumes with strategic and growth partners.
ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS
Experience
- 2 years minimum experience in logistics or transportation required.
- A robust understanding of the customer’s operational requirements and dynamics, along with an understanding of the customer’s service expectations.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain carrier relationships.
- Proven ability to source carrier capacity as well as vet carrier capacity to mitigate risk.
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, supply chain or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience or certifications may substitute for formal education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A deep understanding of market dynamics, including the impact of fuel fluctuations, lane density, and available capacity on pricing.
- Thorough understanding of the inter workings of carrier networks and market dynamics.
- Strong ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data, with a focus on market trends, costs and capacity behavior.
- Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to break down complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellence written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to present data and findings to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Ability to use data to make informed decisions and recommendations on pricing and capacity strategies.
- Highly collaborative in cross-functional teams to align strategies to meet the business needs.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and software including Excel and other data analysis tools.
