Job description
We are seeking a Lead Engineer - Power System Studies to join our Transmission & Distribution team in India. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer to contribute to impactful Energy projects across the globe and continue developing their technical expertise in a supportive, high-performing team.
- Perform, analyze, and review the Power System Studies (steady state, dynamic & Transients) and its reports.
- Establish technical standards, procedures, and best practices for Power System Studies.
- Provide Power System expertise from the concept to detailed design of transmission & distribution projects, including substations, power generating stations, data centers, BESS and renewables.
- Assist & provide technical expertise in bids and proposals and represent the Company in client meetings as a senior member of the Power System Studies team, applying your experience and expertise to a range of exciting and interesting projects.
- Ensure adherence to AECOM and client design management processes while leading project and client meetings as needed.
- Mentor team members in their development, facilitating opportunities that build competency, and assisting with professional accreditation where appropriate.
- Ensure design submissions comply with codes, standards such as IEEE, IEC, National Grid, and quality requirements.
- Drive innovation in AI, digital, scripts automation, develop the user defined dynamic & transient models.
- Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
- Prepares technical specification sections.
- Provides input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules.
The successful candidate will have the following Qualifications:
- 8-12 years of work experience is preferred.
- Master of Engineering degree in Power Systems / Energy Systems or equivalent education from an accredited college or university.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), or Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent in the relevant field from any global organization (e.g., IET UK)
- Prior experience in performing Grid Connection related (PSSE / PSCAD / ETAP / DigSilent Power Factory / CDEGS / Equivalent) dynamic or advanced power system studies is preferred.
- Experience in Power System Studies for EHV Grid Substations is mandatory.
- As a minimum, Power System Study experience in Load Flow, Short Circuit Studies, Motor Starting Studies, Relay Coordination, Arch Flash Studies, Harmonic Studies, Unbalance Load Study, Relay Settings, Earthing Design, Cable Ampacity, Insulation Coordination, etc.
- Previous experience in design teams working for Grid Utilities (e.g., Global National Grid, Transgrid, Powergrid etc.) for Substations and Transmission Line Electrical design.
- Exposure to International standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, Australian Standards, NEC, BS, Middle East region codes & standards, etc.) is preferred
- Very good communication skills (Oral and Written) in English language is mandatory
