Job description

Purpose and Scope:

On the Kennedy Propellants and Life Support Services (KPLSS II) program on Kennedy Space Center FL, perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations. Follows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments from supervisor or engineer. Technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may be reviewed in progress.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment.

  • Conducting a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.

  • Extracting engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form.

 

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

High School diploma, or equivalent, and three years of job-related experience. Good communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). US citizenship is required for restricted area access.  A driver's license is required to independently travel onto and around KSC property.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

One year direct job related experience.  Associate’s degree or technical trade certification in engineering field.  Local candidates.  No relocation allowance provided.

 

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Most positions involve work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Some positions involve work in environments where mechanical equipment, is being installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained. Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components. Such positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required.

Compensation Details:

$20.17 hr
