The Opportunity
- Supports ANZ’s Affiliate’s Compliance Program across all Abbott divisions present at the Affiliate.
- Support the ANZ ACC and personnel in all divisions the enhancement of the Affiliate’s Compliance Program by assessing risks to the businesses, monitoring the compliance program for continuous improvement, recommending effective controls and processes, managing and improving Affiliate compliance policies and procedures, and creating and delivering compliance training.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for compliance questions and counseling within the Affiliate. The Ethics and Compliance Manager will coordinate with Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC) colleagues across the Asia Pacific region and around the world to promote consistency and completeness across compliance programs in various Affiliates.
- Support other Affiliates in the region as directed.
What You'll Do
In consultation with the Affiliate ACC and with limited supervision and guidance from Corporate OEC, you will:
- Provide ethics & compliance advice at all businesses within the Affiliate. Draft, implement, manage and interpret policies, procedures and practices across the Affiliate.
- Perform compliance risk assessments and trend analysis, and propose risk remediation plans and best practice recommendations.
- Develop, implement, and execute a comprehensive monitoring plan to ensure compliance with Affiliate policies and procedures.
- Develop, track, and report metrics regarding the operation and effectiveness of the Affiliate compliance program.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate awareness and education / training programs that focus on the Abbott Compliance Program, the Code of Business Conduct, global and local policies and procedures.
- Consult proactively with business teams in order to provide guidance on proposed commercial programs, identify legal, regulatory and other compliance issues, analyze alternatives and propose solutions to the businesses.
- Support and participate in Affiliate ACC meetings.
- Seek input from and work as necessary with local, regional, and global Legal, Government Affairs, Regulatory Affairs personnel, and other departments and stakeholders.
- Conduct environmental audits to ensure adherence to environmental standards and compliance procedures are followed.
- Organize ethics and compliance records, documents and files, and maintain document databases.
- Participate in local Industry group meetings, identify changes and trends in the external environment, communicate changes to the ACC and OEC ECO and/or Regional Director, and implement necessary changes to the Affiliate Compliance Program.
- Participate in and/or lead, as appropriate, investigations into potential compliance infractions.
- Escalate serious allegations to Corporate as needed.
- Work with the Affiliate to implement remediation plans arising out of local and Corporate investigations.
- Assist the Affiliate with compliance audits, including support and advice regarding fulfillment of auditors’ requests.
- Support the Affiliate in evaluating and responding to audit findings and recommendations, and guide the business in preparing corrective action and remediation plans and ensuring timely implementation of such plans.
- Travel within ANZ and internationally as required to support offices outside of Sydney and other affiliates, and for OEC and Legal department meetings.
- Work with OEC personnel across the Asia Pacific region and in other regions, as appropriate, to promote the development and dissemination of best practices and consistency in compliance standards and procedures across Affiliates and globally.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, Medical or Finance degree preferred, candidates with Masters qualification desirable
- Minimum 10 years experience, with 3 years of experience in compliance and/or risk management positions, including significant experience in a multinational company required.
- Healthcare and/or FMCG experience or in a highly regulated industry strongly preferred.
- Strong spoken, reading, and written English skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint required.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed - 10-15% of the time
- People management experience desirable.
- Advanced data analysis, database, and presentation skills desirable.
