Purpose
The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for overseeing outsourced transactional accounts payable operations in Puerto Rico and supporting global accounts payable processes. This role ensures compliance with Puerto Rican regulations and collaborates with international teams to maintain standardized processes and drive improvements across the global Accounts Payable function
Responsibilities:
- Manage the AP & GRIR balances in Puerto Rico and act as point of contact for complex issues
- Submit 480 forms, complete quarterly tax withholding forms & ensure timely payment
- Supervise a team of 3 Accounts payable staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
- Works directly with Finance Shared Services contact on monthly close and financial reporting processes to ensure complete, accurate and timely monthly actual results, including variance analysis and commentary for P&L, headcount, and balance sheet. Understands monthly results and communicates issues vs. benchmark to Manager to agree on resolution or action plan.
- Reviewing and analyzing financial statements and reports (purchase order requests).
- Produces ad hoc research, analysis and forecasts for internal management team and external customers as requested.
- Works closely and communicates with other departments within AbbVie to ensure that strategic initiatives are achieved.
- Ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations.
- Assisting project teams with financial guidance.
- Conforms to EH&S management system requirements and compliance obligations, promote continuous improvement, and consider EH&S aspects during the design and change process. Comply with all EHS procedures and policies including incident reporting, use of PPE, waste management and disposal, and any other program applicable according to the position duties.
Significant Work Activities:
- Frequent to continuous computer usage (greater or equal to 50% of the workday) is required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA preferred but not required.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive and related experience in Finance and/or Accounting.
- Fully bilingual (Spanish and English).
- Ability to multitask and meet constant deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management, including delivering presentations, is required.
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Proficient PC skills (Excel, Power Point, Word, IBM Cognos) skills.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies (SAP)

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
