Position Overview

If you are passionate about high-impact programming projects that support the US Navy, consider joining Serco as a Metrics Analyst! We are looking for individuals with Navy experience to help senior leaders utilize data for strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for former Navy professionals who understand shipboard operations, maintenance, and readiness.

Your role will extend beyond just dashboard creation; you will influence which data is most relevant and how it is presented while working in the Washington DC metro area.

As a crucial liaison with senior Navy leaders, you will leverage your comprehensive understanding of shipboard operations to provide deep insights through data analysis. Ideal candidates will have experience serving onboard ships or in shipyard environments, ideally with a background as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) Junior Officer (JO). Your knowledge of shipboard maintenance will allow you to effectively contextualize data analysis within the naval environment's unique needs and challenges.

We seek someone with a solid background in data analytics, including statistical analysis, data visualization, and advanced analytic techniques. Your ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets and present them clearly is essential. Experience with various data sources and advanced methodologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) will be significant assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize your shipboard maintenance experience and data analytics expertise to guide decision-making for Navy leaders, facilitating informed logistics and maintenance decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze data from shipboard operations and beyond.
  • Use statistical analysis and visualization tools to effectively derive insights and communicate findings.
  • Create comprehensive data-driven reports, briefings, and presentations for senior Navy leadership.
  • Simplify complex technical data into executive-level insights, reports, and recommendations.
  • Support the creation of metrics frameworks aligned with Fleet and Headquarters strategic objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with Navy personnel and stakeholders to ensure data analytics efforts support organizational goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance on dashboard design and application, utilizing tools like Power BI, Tableau, and Jupyter.
  • Produce detailed written deliverables, including but not limited to reports, spreadsheets, databases, and technical design documents, articulating your findings and recommendations for leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience are required.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret Security clearance.
  • Strong data analytics background, including experience in statistical analysis and visualization within a DOD context.
  • Proficient in data-driven decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Exceptional communication skills to convey complex insights to senior Navy leaders effectively.
  • Familiarity with common naval data sources and systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience in data visualization tools like Qlik and/or Tableau.
  • Willingness to travel minimally (10%).

Preferred Skills

  • NAVSEA or Navy background.
  • Experience with Depot-level Overhaul, Maintenance, and Modernization activities.
  • Knowledge of algorithm writing using Python or similar AI/ML languages.
  • Familiarity with Navy maintenance and readiness systems (e.g., OARS, VSB, CASREP).
  • Prior DoD experience or experience on naval surface ships is highly preferred.
  • Education or certification in data analytics, computer science, or related fields is a plus.

If you are enthusiastic about supporting NAVSEA efforts, apply now to take the next step in your career!
