About the Role:
We are seeking a highly driven Buyer to manage vendor sales materials, consignment inventory, and spares replenishment that support our manufacturing operations. This role oversees the complete procurement cycle from purchase order issuance through delivery and shipment, ensuring availability of materials while optimizing delivery batches to support monthly production needs at the Contract Manufacturer (CM).
The ideal candidate possesses strong supplier management skills, experience in consignment processes, and the ability to optimize supply flow to minimize vendor‑sale items and excess inventory.
Working closely with CM partners, planning, and internal stakeholders, the Buyer proactively resolves supply issues, improves inventory health, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across cost, delivery, and material availability.
Work Location: ONSITE – Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & PO Management
Manage the full lifecycle of procurement for vendor-sale and consignment parts—from PO issuance to receipt and shipment.
Ensure all POs reflect correct pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and consignment arrangements.
Follow up closely with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any shipment or documentation issues.
Vendor Sales & Consignment Inventory Management
Administer and maintain consignment stock levels at CM or internal locations; monitor daily consumption and replenish as required.
Track vendor sales items and drive actions to continuously reduce reliance on vendor-sale materials.
Coordinate inventory reconciliation, cycle counts, and reporting with the CM and suppliers.
Delivery Batch Optimization
Work with suppliers to optimize delivery batches to meet CM’s monthly production plans.
Balance batch sizing with cost, storage constraints, and CM readiness to ensure smooth material flow.
Adjust delivery schedules proactively in response to demand changes or production shifts.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.
Track delivery, quality, and responsiveness performance and escalate issues promptly.
Collaborate with suppliers to improve lead times, delivery consistency, and replenishment models.
Inventory, Spares & Cost Optimization
Manage spares inventory, ensuring sufficient stocking levels to prevent line-down or service disruptions.
Cross-Functional Support
Work closely with planners on supply/demand alignment, delivery priorities, and material risks.
Support engineering on new material introductions, part transitions, and ECO-related changes.
Coordinate with logistics on inbound shipments, freight mode selection, and customs documents where needed.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Prepare regular reports on vendor sales trends, consignment usage, spares status, and supplier performance.
Review and adjust purchasing strategies to reduce operational risk and improve materials availability.
Support continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing cost, improving efficiency, and enhancing data accuracy.
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Competencies:
Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or relevant discipline.
Minimum 3-5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in manufacturing with a strong understanding of consignment management, vendor sales models, and inventory control.
Experience optimizing delivery batches and working closely with Contract Manufacturers.
