Job description

Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships up to 10x faster and up to 2x cheaper. By combining advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we are reinventing how America produces its most critical parts.

We’re accelerating our mission with the launch of Factory 3 in Mesa, Arizona, a 290,000-square-foot facility creating 350 new jobs. We are expanding rapidly to support thousands of future hires, launching Hadrian Maritime to expand into naval production, and introducing a Factory-as-a-Service model that delivers complete systems instead of individual parts.

Hadrian is backed by leading investors including T. Rowe Price, Lux Capital, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz, our fast-growing team is united around reindustrializing American manufacturing for the 21st century and beyond.

THE ROLE

Hadrian is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to build and scale the systems that drive machine reliability, uptime, and maintenance execution across our factories. This role is closest to a manufacturing engineer focused on maintenance, and will own the content, scheduling, and process behind preventative, reactive, and predictive maintenance.

This person will be responsible for developing and optimizing our maintenance execution process and strategy, with direct impact on machine uptime, repair costs, and the processes executed by dozens of operators. They will work closely with Factory Technicians and Leads, Supply Chain, Maintenance Specialists and Technicians, Production Scheduling, and Factory Development.

This is a high-ownership role for someone excited to build a process from the ground up using modern tools and systems. The right candidate will help lay the foundation for how Hadrian manages preventative and predictive maintenance, and can influence procurement, CMMS development, and future machine selection as the company scales.

What You’ll Do Maintenance Strategy & Asset Reliability

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance (PM) programs for CNC machines, robotics, and automated systems
  • Implement predictive maintenance (PdM) strategies using condition monitoring and equipment data
  • Analyze equipment performance and trends to improve uptime, reduce failures, and extend asset life
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues
  • Maintain accurate records of machine configurations, upgrades, and maintenance history
  • Define and track key maintenance KPIs (uptime, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance)

Systems, Data & Process Optimization

  • Manage and optimize CMMS, including work order workflows, scheduling, and data integrity
  • Develop dashboards and reporting to monitor maintenance performance and drive decision-making
  • Standardize maintenance procedures, checklists, and documentation
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and maintenance costs

Technician Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to maintenance technicians
  • Partner with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve machine reliability and performance
  • Support new equipment installation, commissioning, and integration into maintenance programs
  • Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for repairs, upgrades, and technical support

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance activities follow safety standards and procedures (e.g., lockout/tagout)
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • 3–7+ years of experience in CNC, manufacturing, or automation maintenance/reliability
  • Strong understanding of CNC machines, PLCs, and industrial systems
  • Experience with CMMS and maintenance planning tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience with predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermography, IoT monitoring)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
  • Familiarity with CNC/automation platforms (e.g., FANUC, Siemens, Haas)
  • Experience supporting high-mix or high-end manufacturing

Compensation

For this role, the target salary range is $90,000 - $140,000 (actual range may vary based on experience).

This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

BENEFITS

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
  • 401k
  • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy
