Environmental Specialist
Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Field Services team. As an Environmental Specialist, you will support our clients on-site by managing and facilitating their hazardous waste disposal services and shipments, utilizing Provincial & Federal regulations.

This position reports to the Fleet Manager and is based in Niagara Falls, ON. The role requires travel to various work locations including the Greater Toronto Area using a company vehicle during work hours.
This person must be willing to work flexible days and hours throughout the work week and year in service of our household hazardous waste event programs:
- April 1st to July 31st - Wednesday to Sunday
- August 1st to Oct 30th - Tuesday to Saturday
- November 1st to March 31st – Monday to Friday
Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of OHSA regulations as well as Triumvirate’s Health and Safety practices
- Develop a high-level of Provincial and Federal regulatory expertise ensuring our client’s and the Company’s compliance needs are met (e.g. O. Reg 347 of the EPA and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act)
- Preparation of chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including segregation as per chemical compatibility and Provincial waste class codes, container labelling, and Provincial chain of custody / billing documentation preparation
- Safe handling of hazardous waste containers on client sites, as well as loading/unloading of waste from vehicles
- Safe operation of Triumvirate commercial vehicles (Class G) while transporting hazardous materials
- Provide both technical expertise and labour related efforts at company hosted municipal Household Hazardous Waste events on weekends at locations throughout Ontario
- Occasionally perform and document Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits for clients.
- Conduct spill response measures, including the assessment of the spills and cleanup efforts
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations involving hazardous materials.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or College diploma in an environmental/chemistry related discipline or equivalent experience in the hazardous-waste industry
- Ability to work as a member of a team as well as individually
- Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, ensuring clear and professional exchanges of information
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies to achieve positive outcomes
- Skilled in building strong, positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Ability to work overtime on as needed basis
- Ability to complete a 2-to-3-year professional advancement program in hazardous waste management
- Must be able to follow company personal protective equipment policies
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
- Must have a reliable form of transportationM
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without future sponsorship
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
Preferred Requirements:
- Prior relevant industry experience
- Prior successful experience in a customer service role
