Leidos is in search of a Senior Electrical Engineer to become a vital part of our National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. You will support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Headquarters from a remote setting within the United States. This position allows for 100% telework, with anticipated business travel between 25% and 35%.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized technical support to the Infrastructure Engineering Center by developing project engineering packages:
  • Create site-specific project plans and specifications required for the solicitation and contracting of engineering projects, ensuring FAA approval and acceptance.
  • Conduct site surveys to gather important project data while adhering to all relevant standards, construction codes, and ordinances.
  • Analyze site survey findings and offer recommendations to address identified issues.
  • Prepare summary trip reports promptly after each trip, within two working days.
  • Compile project documentation, which includes:
  • Scope of work and project transmittal.
  • Lists of drawings and specifications.
  • Operational Risk Management checklists.
  • Necessary information for preparing Purchase Requests (PR) for assigned projects.
  • Information required for the preparation of NAS Change Proposals (NCP) for assigned projects.
  • A list of Government-furnished properties.
  • Airspace case documents.
  • Assessment of engineering impacts on Environmental & Safety Compliance Program Project checklists.
  • Drafting drawings and specifications.
  • Engineering cost estimates for project plans in compliance with FAA standards.
  • Project schedules with estimated completion times.
  • Offer technical support across all phases of new construction and renovation projects, including evaluating shop drawings, design proposals, and interpreting technical requirements to ensure adherence to contract documents.
  • Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) for all assigned projects, recommending solutions for engineering-related issues.
  • Conduct engineering studies to assess feasibility and evaluate cost versus benefits.
  • Provide essential technical insights to the Government Technical Interpreter in planning, budgeting, programming, and coordinating engineering project development.
  • Develop accurate project drawings according to FAA standards and guidelines.
  • Perform data gathering and develop Arc Flash analysis.

Basic Qualifications

  • An Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET-accredited institution, with a minimum of 8-12 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience. Doctorate in the technical domain is also acceptable.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Resident Engineer specializing in Electrical Engineering Design, with knowledge in establishing power systems and calculating equipment size requirements (e.g., identifying panels, breakers).
  • Familiarity with Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities.
  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD Software.
  • Experience in creating and developing Arc Flash Analysis.
  • Experience with SKM Software.
  • Solid experience in inspecting electrical systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25-35% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Corporate Work Plan (CWP) 4.1.12.
  • Familiarity with National Airspace System Equipment Tower (NASET).
  • Knowledge of National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB).
  • Familiarity with Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), power systems, general building construction techniques, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), fire detection, security, site work, etc.

Pay Range: $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
