The Assistant Stage Manager is to provide effective and safe operation of all Entertainment Technical systems for programs, activities and events in all lounges and venues onboard, outside of the main theater in the scope of their ASM duties.

Guest Experience:

  • Demonstrates genuine concern for guests’ wellbeing at all times.

  • Assist to ensure that all guest requests, inquiries and concerns are handled in a prompt manner.

  • Ensures that the Entertainment Department creates a warm, sincere, welcoming but fun environment around the ship’s public areas.

Operational:

  • Assist with maintenance of the departments AV equipment.

  • Daily operations of all venues outside of main theater.

  • Superior knowledge of theatrical support systems and operations.

  • Works to ensure that all equipment is being used in a safe manner.

  • Works to ensure that all equipment is maintained and to notify Stage Manager of any concerns or situations that could be a safety issue.

  • Organizes scenery setup and strike of performance areas and bandstands. Ensures that band keeps their areas in a safe and organized condition and notifies their supervisor if this is not done.

  • Ensues all entertainment activities and events re set-up and ready prior to the beginning of the events and operates them when called upon.

  • Schedules Stage Crew and Over-Hire Payroll.

  • Stage Technician Scheduling.

  • Relieve Stage Manager holding all responsibilities of Stage Manager, if the Stage Manager is unable to perform their duties.

  • Ensure that the Stage Managers “Local Crew Hires” (LCH) are trained by the Stage Technicians in the safe use and operation of equipment and areas being accessed for show assistance.

To ensure equipment used in activities are always in safe working condition by:

  • Familiarizing self with systems, equipment, and accessories.

  •  Assisting in conducting regular maintenance checks of all sound, lighting and projection equipment in lounges and pool deck, scenery, etc, reporting any maintenance issue to supervisor for proper action.

  • Organizing, maintaining and properly storing department equipment and spares.

  • Handling equipment with care and not leaving it unattended (headsets, microphones, monitors, music stands, charts), and leaving the equipment locked, safely and properly stored.

  • Ensuring equipment is only handled by instructed and properly briefed people.

  • Ensures that all electrical and AV connections are secure and cables are not a trip hazard.

  • Keeping electrical and storage lockers locked when not in use and keep these lockers clean and organized.

General Accountabilities:

  • Keeps superiors promptly and fully informed of all relevant matters.

  • Continuously trains to be able to progress within the department to Stage Manager and learn to cover operational duties if/when required.

  • Ensures confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

  • Achieves the primary objectives of the position and comply with the above- mentioned accountabilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with Regent Seven Seas Cruises policies.

  • Projects a favorable image of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, promotes its aims and objectives to foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all its areas and endeavor.

  • Complies with the safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures at all times, participating in all relevant meetings and training sessions.

  • Participates in all mandatory training without excuse.

  • Observes and enforces uniform standards according to Regent Seven Seas Cruises policies and procedures.

  • Efficiently and effectively performs all other duties as requested by shipboard management or shore-side.

Training and Development:

  • Trains new Stage team members in operations and onboard procedures.

  • Completes, participates and promotes RSSC’s Service Training Programs.

  • Assists the Cruise Director and Stage Manager in implementing and maintaining guidelines, procedures and training practices set by the corporate office.

Social:

  • Maintains positive relationships with colleagues.

  • Respects the privacy and rights of colleagues.

  • Promotes cooperation and teamwork.

  • At all times projects a favorable image of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, promoting its aims and objectives to enhance. public recognition and acceptance of all its areas of operation or endeavors.

Safety:

  • Participates in crew and passenger safety drills according to instructions from ship’s command.

  • Complies with company safety and pollution prevention regulations.

  • Understands all duties listed in SMS for this position.

  • Oversees and operates all alternate venues outside of the theater (still under the command of the Stage Manager) but is also capable of stepping into the Stage Manager position in the theater should it ever have to happen.

Education and Experience

  • Advanced knowledge of sound and lighting systems.

  • Intermediate knowledge of daily management.

  • Intermediate knowledge of rigging and automation.

  • Intermediate entertainment networking knowledge.

  • Excellent and proven communication skills.

  • Outgoing personality, open minded and flexible.

  • Comfortable working in an international environment.

  • Consistently performs well under pressure.

  • Excellent appearance and social skills.

  • Well-organized with an eye for detail.

  • Works well without supervision when required and asks questions if unsure.
