About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced GIS Lead / Manager to lead geographic information system (GIS) delivery across the New Zealand region. This key technical role ensures all project staff have timely, accurate spatial information to support successful delivery. You will act as the project’s GIS subject matter expert, working closely with construction, engineering, and project leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver ACCIONA’s GIS solutions for the project, ensuring all spatial information systems and outputs meet project requirements and align with organisational standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the National GIS Manager to maintain systems, workflows, and strategic alignment with ACCIONA’s broader GIS direction and digital engineering initiatives.
  • Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders to understand, define, and deliver GIS, data management, and application requirements across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements by applying innovative GIS technologies, automation, and digital tools to replace or enhance manual processes.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimise web and mobile GIS applications, including developing content, functionalities, dashboards, and high‑quality spatial datasets to support project delivery.
  • Provide advanced GIS analysis and technical expertise, creating new spatial content, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and mentoring junior GIS staff to uplift capability across the project.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce GIS Management and Execution Plans, deliver regular GIS training to project staff (including on‑site sessions), and act as the primary point of contact for all GIS‑related project needs.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Degree qualification in GIS, IT, Computer Science or similar — or equivalent extensive GIS industry experience
  • 10+ years’ GIS experience, including demonstrated project leadership (engineering, construction or infrastructure preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency across the ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro, Online, Enterprise, mobile and web apps)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement experience within multidisciplinary project environments
