Position Overview:

At Clemson Marina, we’re committed to delivering an exceptional boating experience through dependable, high-quality service and a passion for the boating lifestyle.

We’re looking for an experienced, self-directed Marine Technician with strong mechanical aptitude and a problem-solving mindset to join our Service Department. In this hands-on role, you’ll manage the full service process, from inspection and diagnosis through repair, testing, and final documentation, ensuring each boat is completed with accuracy and efficiency.

Based at our Clemson Marina location, you’ll serve as the primary on-site technician supporting both internal and customer-paid work. While working independently day-to-day, you’ll remain closely connected with and supported by the team at our sister location, Eclipse Marine – Seneca.

If you take pride in hands-on work, enjoy solving problems, and value both ownership and teamwork, this is a great opportunity to grow your career in the marine industry.

At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform installs, repairs and maintenance on boats, including outboard, sterndrive, and inboard engines, as well as other vessel components.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using technical expertise and manufacturer tools.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and service administration to address installation or repair challenges, establish workflows, and estimate timeframes.
  • Communicate with service administration and/or supervisors when quotes are ready for review, additional parts or labor are needed for approval to complete the repair, assistance is needed, or repair orders are complete and repair order is ready for final approval.
  • Review repair orders and vessel specifications to determine the scope of work and recommend necessary repairs or modifications using technician notes and standard documentation.
  • Build quotes for repair including researching parts needed for repair using manufacturer-provided catalogs and tools, estimating labor time using standard jobs, flat rates, and expertise, ensuring quotes are ready for customer approval.
  • Conduct vessel safety inspections and utilize service histories to inform customers of required or recommended maintenance.
  • Apply bottom paint or antifouling paint to boat hulls and occasionally paint cowlings as needed.
  • Track time and labor for each repair order, ensuring adherence to efficiency goals and minimizing non-billable tasks.
  • Ensure boats are tidied up after service work, including wiping handprints and other marks, before returning them to the customer.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
  • Support other roles as needed, including moving boats and assisting with service administration or parts-related tasks when necessary.
  • Participate in company-required training sessions, meetings, and communications via email and Microsoft Teams.
  • Assist with occasional onsite and offsite promotional events and boat shows, including setup and breakdown as needed.
  • Any additional duties assigned for success.

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • Willingness to pursue industry certifications.
  • Familiarity with tools and their uses; must provide personal basic-use mechanical tools and toolbox.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to read and write professional summaries of completed work.
  • Commitment to safety standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Solid work ethic and reliability.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company standards, along with a clear background check and drug screening.
