What You Will Do:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our facilities team in Bridgeport, WV as a Maintenance Mechanic. In this role, you will be involved in site wide preventive maintenance on equipment, handling facility wide issues as they arise, and be involved in activities such as pipe fitting, welding, chemical handling, and other duties as assigned.

To succeed in this role, you will be someone who has a background in facilities maintenance or completed trades training. You will be attentive to detail, safety conscious, and have the ability to work both independently as well as part of our team. This position will work on our 2nd shift, which is Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm-1:30am. You will train on our 1st shift for up to 6 months, which is Monday-Thursday from 5:30am-3:30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of complex mechanical maintenance duties to support all departments, operations and facilities of the company.

  • Perform duties as required to install, service, repair, overhaul equipment, maintain buildings, grounds, building services, vehicles, machinery, test equipment, and the waste treatment facility, working from drawings and sketches.

  • Perform painting and carpentry duties such as constructing enclosures and partitions, hanging doors, constructing scaffolds, building special use boxes, miscellaneous carpentry duties and painting.

  • Perform pipe fitting duties and seal and pack joints and fittings.

  • Perform acetylene and electric arc welding and brazing.

  • Occasionally moving machinery, test equipment, office furniture, etc.

  • Operate a forklift, tractor, motor vehicle and on occasion other machines.

  • May be required to work under disagreeable conditions such as noise, heights, tight space, and adverse weather.

  • Assist Maintenance Electrician with the installation and maintenance of plant electrical equipment.

  • Work with vendors' representatives to resolve equipment systems and design problems.

  • Aid in development and implementation of equipment preventative maintenance procedures.

  • Perform a variety of duties related to handling chemicals and hazardous waste, following associated safety procedures and guidelines.

  • Requires use of shop mathematics to work from drawings and use measuring instruments, working knowledge of mechanical, pipe fitting and carpentry practices, including knowledge of heating and plumbing systems.

  • Comply with all company work rules, follow safe work practices and procedures established to protect the environment, and report to supervisor all unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, and conditions which impact or have the potential to impact the environment.

  • Responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with RTX's Code of Ethics, including the obligation to report actual and suspected violations of the code.

  • Perform all other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent plus 2 - 3 years of trades training.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Previous experience with welding, pipefitting, or as a millwright

  • Trades training can be waived provided the applicant has 5+ years’ experience in industrial equipment maintenance

This role is:

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
