Database Administrator

Skills: Good experience on both MS SQL and Oracle DBA

The Database Administrator (DBA) will provide administration, operational support, and technical expertise for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database platforms distributed globally. These databases host mission‑critical enterprise applications, including SAP and other core business systems. The role is responsible for maintaining the availability, performance, security, and reliability of existing database environments, as well as supporting projects that require pre‑engineered database solutions.

This position is primarily focused on database and infrastructure services that support global business operations. The DBA will work closely with infrastructure engineering teams based in the United States and with regional technical support teams worldwide, contributing both day‑to‑day operational support and hands‑on technical project delivery.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in scheduled Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises for Microsoft SQL Server environments, ensuring readiness and compliance with recovery objectives.

• Collaborate with application and database development teams to analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related issues, and to design and implement effective technical solutions.

• Assist and advise SQL Developers on query and code optimization, performance tuning, and best practices as required.

• Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database failures, incidents, and performance issues in a timely and efficient manner.

• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for database outages or recurring issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

• Execute and support SQL code releases and deployments across database environments in accordance with change management processes.

• Participate in global IT initiatives and projects, contributing to the design, build, and maintenance of database infrastructure aligned with business requirements.

• Provide 24x7 Level 2–3 global support for application platform (AP) computing environments, including database platforms, infrastructure hardware/software, services, and operational processes supported by IT.

• Engage and coordinate with external support providers (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle) as needed to resolve complex issues and ensure continuous availability of business‑critical services.

• Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering teams on the design, integration, testing, and deployment of new or enhanced information systems, services, and technology offerings.

• Understand, adhere to, and execute ITIL-based processes, including Change, Incident, Problem, and Release Management.

• Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME), providing guidance and support to project teams and operational support teams as required.

• Author, review, and maintain technical and operational documentation to support knowledge transfer, training, and successful transition of new solutions into the support organization.

• Design and implement technical solutions and process improvements that enhance system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education, certifications, or relevant work experience

  3+ years of overall IT experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a DBA role

  Strong analytical and logical troubleshooting skills across multiple technologies and services

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to IT and business stakeholders

  General understanding of project management methodologies

  Working knowledge of IT infrastructure, processes, and ITIL practices

  Ability to assess, prioritize, and manage competing priorities effectively

  Proactive in identifying potential issues and developing preventive and corrective solutions

  Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in global, cross‑functional, and virtual team environments
