Job description

Making a difference isn’t just our purpose, it’s what motivates our people every day. For us, work is not about ticking a box. It’s about knowing that it matters.  We make a meaningful difference every day by making it easier for our customers to focus on what matters in their lives.

Part of the McMillan Shakespeare Group, Maxxia, Remserv and PSS support individuals and organisations through salary packaging and related services. Across our brands, we’re focused on delivering accessible, high‑quality digital experiences that make a real difference for our customers.

Here’s how you will make a difference in this role…

We are seeking an Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Frontend Developer to help deliver a highly accessible, performant public‑facing website built on Adobe Experience Manager Edge Delivery Services (EDS).

This role is focused on building WCAG 2.1 / 2.2–compliant, mobile‑first, and screen‑reader‑friendly experiences. You will work closely with designers, developers, content authors and accessibility specialists to ensure inclusive digital experiences for all users.

At MMS clear expectations help our people Be the Difference.  Your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Develop, optimise, and maintain front‑end components and blocks within AEM Edge Delivery Services (EDS) to support accessible and inclusive user experiences
  • Implement WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 AA standards across all pages, ensuring full compatibility with assistive technologies (e.g. NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate Figma designs into accessible, responsive, and reusable front‑end components
  • Ensure semantic HTML structure, proper ARIA roles, and keyboard navigation support throughout the website
  • Conduct accessibility testing, including manual and automated scans using tools like Axe, Wave, and Lighthouse Accessibility Audit
  • Support content authors in applying accessibility best practices when publishing through AEM Universal Editor
  • Collaborate closely with developers, QA, and accessibility specialists to ensure accessibility remains central throughout development
  • Optimise for performance and SEO, leveraging lazy/eager loading, proper heading hierarchy, and metadata structures
  • Work with Cloudflare CDN and edge workers for efficient caching and content delivery
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to maintain quality and compliance standards
  • Leverage AI‑assisted development tools (e.g. Git code assistants, automated testing, performance analysis tools) to improve delivery efficiency and code quality
  • Good to have knowledge on AI‑driven content and personalisation strategies where applicable (e.g. dynamic content rendering, experimentation, or optimisation)

Continuous improvement

  • Work with stakeholders to maintain a program of continuous improvement activities across technology and operations
  • Collaborate internally and externally to implement continuous improvement initiatives in technology and operations
  • Stay updated on new technologies and recommend improvements to the development process and product functionality
  • Align with core Agile principles around ongoing evolution and “test and learn” approaches
  • Establish and enforce software development standards, policies, and procedures in line with quality, security and regulatory requirements

To be considered for this role you will possess the following:

Capabilities & behaviours

  • Accessibility‑driven with a strong passion for inclusive design
  • Detail‑oriented with a focus on semantic, high‑quality front‑end code
  • Collaborative and able to work effectively with designers, developers and content authors
  • Committed to continuous learning, including evolving WCAG and ARIA practices
  • Strong problem‑solving skills for complex accessibility challenges
  • Clear communicator who can explain accessibility concepts to non‑technical stakeholders

Skills & experience

Front‑end development

  • Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3 (SASS/LESS/Tailwind), and JavaScript/ES6+ (non‑negotiable)
  • Experience with AEM Edge Delivery Services (EDS) and block‑based architecture (good to have)
  • Familiarity with Universal Editor authoring and Figma‑to‑code implementation (good to have)

Accessibility

  • Deep knowledge of WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 AA standards, ARIA roles, focus management, tab order, and colour contrast (must have)
  • Experience testing with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) (good to have)
  • Experience using automated accessibility tools such as Axe, Wave or Lighthouse (at least one)

Performance & tooling

  • Experience optimising for Core Web Vitals, lazy loading and semantic markup (must have)

  • Familiarity with Cloudflare CDN and caching (good to have)
  • Experience contributing to government or accessibility‑mandated digital platforms (good to have)
