Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical HSE Officer (Roads O&M) to join our team in Doha, Qatar. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance in our roads operations and maintenance projects.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures for roads operations and maintenance projects
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing comprehensive reports and recommending preventive measures
  • Provide HSE training and guidance to employees, contractors, and visitors on site
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international HSE regulations and standards, particularly those applicable to Qatar
  • Develop and maintain environmental management systems to minimize the environmental impact of road maintenance activities
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution
  • Prepare and present HSE performance reports to management, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement
  • Manage and maintain HSE documentation, including permits, certifications, and training records
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging HSE trends in roads operations and maintenance
  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • NEBOSH certification or equivalent HSE qualification
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in an HSE role, preferably in roads operations and maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly those applicable to road construction and maintenance in Qatar
  • Proficiency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and reporting techniques
  • Strong understanding of construction safety and traffic management principles
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and HSE management software
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various project sites as needed
  • Knowledge of local environmental regulations in Qatar
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Valid Qatar driving license
