Join WashU Orthopedics – a nationally-ranked adult and pediatric practice – on the journey to make our patients better on game day, and every day. Wash U Ortho specialists serve as the official team physicians for St. Louis CITY SC, St. Louis Blues, and local universities and high schools.Seeking a certified athletic trainer to support a rapidly-expanding pediatric, adolescent, and young adult sports medicine practice. In this position, the ATC assists an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon in all aspects of patient care, from clinic evaluation to the operating room and through the postoperative rehabilitation process in accordance with athletic training scope of practice. The ATC plays a key role in coordinating an orthopedic practice with patients and families, ATCs in local school, physical therapists, other pediatric orthopedic team members, operating room personnel, and the research team.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Promotes pediatric sports medicine practice.
Develops relationships with high school athletic trainers in St. Louis region, including participation in high school sporting coverage.
Assists in coordinating outreach and education programs on pediatric and adolescent sports injuries including prevention programs.
Develops teaching materials to support patients and their families with sports injuries.
Assists pediatric sports physician in the operating room.
Assists in all aspects of the clinical care of pediatric and adolescent athletes – including diagnosis, preoperative education, surgery, postoperative follow up and rehabilitation.
Provides telephone triage and advice related to athletic/sports injury. Provides telephone triage and advice related to general (non-athletic/sports injury) orthopedic concerns in consult with the physician.

Required Qualifications:
Athletic Trainers Certification (ATC) from the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
