Position Summary

The Loan Accounting Assistant supports the administration, reconciliation, and ongoing data integrity of X‑Caliber’s loan portfolio. This role partners closely with the Assistant Vice President, Loan Accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting, clean system data, and reliable loan‑level records across servicing, accounting, and banking platforms.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, analytically minded, and comfortable working across multiple systems and teams. This position plays a key role in reconciliation processes, escrow administration, and data quality initiatives while collaborating with Finance, Loan Servicing, Portfolio Management, and Operations.

This position is based in our Timonium, Maryland office with a hybrid or in‑office schedule, as applicable, and reports to the Assistant Vice President, Loan Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Loan & Cash Reconciliation

  • Perform daily and monthly reconciliations between loan servicing systems, bank accounts, and general ledger balances
  • Investigate, document, and resolve system‑to‑bank variances using transaction‑level data
  • Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes related to loans and escrow accounts

Escrow & Asset Administration

  • Support escrow disbursements including taxes, insurance, and reserves with strong attention to timing, accuracy, and auditability
  • Maintain structured electronic tax and insurance documentation aligned with servicing system records
  • Monitor escrow balances and assist in identifying exceptions or data inconsistencies

Systems, Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate electronic loan files and data across internal systems and document repositories
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to analyze loan data, validate calculations, and support reconciliations (including lookups, pivots, and filters)
  • Assist with internal management reporting, investor data requests, and ad hoc analysis
  • Support data quality initiatives by identifying trends, recurring issues, and system gaps

Cross‑Functional & Audit Support

  • Partner with Finance, Loan Servicing, Portfolio Management, and Operations teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Support internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and reconciliation support
  • Assist Finance and Servicing teams with system inquiries, data validation, and reporting needs

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field a plus

Experience

  • Experience working in financial systems, loan accounting, or loan servicing environments preferred

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Experience with loan servicing platforms (e.g., Strategy/CS or comparable systems) and accounting systems a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $55,000 – $60,000.
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
