Your next career opportunity  
In this role, you will engineer and operate cloud-native platforms supporting national life science research services. Contribute to and take ownership of key OpenStack and AWS infrastructure, from Kubernetes clusters to CI/CD automation. You will collaborate with developers, bioinformaticians, and partners to deliver secure, scalable environments for cutting-edge science. 

What you will deliver:  

  • Operate and enhance OpenStack and AWS environments, including Kubernetes clusters, networking, storage, identity, and security controls. 

  • Design and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and AWS CDK to deploy multi-tenant, production research platforms. 

  • Develop automation, scripts, and reusable tooling in Python or TypeScript/Node.js to streamline operations and platform workflows. 

  • Administer CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, improving build, test, deployment reliability and observability across services. 

  • Collaborate with national partners on deployments, incident response, upgrades, and roadmap activities for core BioCommons platforms. 

You may be a great fit if you:  

  • Hold a relevant degree in computer science, software engineering, IT, or equivalent professional experience. 

  • Demonstrate hands-on experience operating production OpenStack and/or AWS environments, including compute, networking, and object storage. 

  • Apply solid knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker workflows to support containerised applications across research and commercial clouds. 

  • Use Terraform and/or CDK or CloudFormation to model, deploy, and manage infrastructure-as-code for complex platforms. 

  • Write maintainable automation and tooling in Python or TypeScript/Node.js, integrating with cloud services and workflows. 

  • Manage CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging using tools such as GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
