Job description

Title: Lead Teacher – Early Head Start Type: Full Time – Exempt Location: CentroNía Takoma Park Work type: Onsite Pay by: Range, $20.50 – $27.00 per hour

Description: The Lead Teacher is entrusted with planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate, bilingual curriculum for children ranging from three months to three years of age. In this role, you will guide the learning environment by supervising and working collaboratively with Early Head Start Teacher Assistants, volunteers, and parents. The shared goal is to nurture a safe, stable, and healthy community-based space where all children and families are treated with profound respect and dignity.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and implement dynamic daily learning experiences for infants and toddlers, ensuring all activities align with NAEYC accreditation standards, state regulations, and local childcare rules.
  • Engage parents meaningfully in their children's educational journey through open communication, monthly newsletters, and three dedicated parent conferences throughout the school year.
  • Supervise Teacher Assistants, conduct annual team assessments, and maintain completely confidential, up-to-date records for all children and families in your care.

Qualifications

  • Three years of dedicated experience within an Early Head Start setting, demonstrating a clear capacity to plan classroom activities and carefully observe children's behaviors.
  • An AA or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree alongside a CDA for Infants and Toddlers.
  • Effective communication abilities and the flexibility to adapt to shifting schedules and routines, with a strong preference for individuals who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

Position Details

  • Wage: Starting at $24.75 per hour for CDA + being actively enrolled in an AA in ECE, reaching up to $27.00 per hour ($56,160/year) for an AA+ in ECE or equivalent.
  • Hours: Expected work hours will reach a maximum of 40 hours a week.
  • Clearance: Employment requires a fingerprint background check, and CentroNía participates in E-Verify to confirm work authorization.
