Job description

SEIS is seeking an experienced Software Engineer II to support a high‐profile Fortune 50 Public Sector customer. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation, data, and tracking solutions that support complex, SLA‐driven operational workflows. The Software Engineer II will work closely with IT Project Managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands‐on development experience, a solid understanding of enterprise systems, and the ability to work across multiple technologies and legacy platforms to deliver reliable business outcomes.

This is a full‐time, salaried, remote position with limited initial travel as required for onboarding or engagement kickoff.

Security, Eligibility, and Suitability Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen residing in the U.S., or a Permanent Resident residing in the U.S. for the past three years.
  • SEIS participates in E‐Verify to validate authorization to work in the United States.

Role and Responsibilities

Solution Design & Development

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high‐quality, maintainable software solutions.
  • Implement solutions aligned to requirements, priorities, and delivery plans driven by project leadership.
  • Participate in technical design discussions, reviews, and solution planning.
  • Contribute to code quality practices (readability, reusability, documentation, and maintainability).

Automation, Data & Integration

  • Automate business processes using technologies such as:
  • C#
  • Python
  • Excel VBA
  • Microsoft Power Apps
  • Microsoft Power Automate
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • Design, develop, and maintain database solutions using Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Integrate, reconcile, and normalize data from multiple sources, including legacy systems.
  • Perform data analysis using techniques ranging from basic aggregation to more advanced analytical methods.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Collaborate closely with IT Project Managers, business analysts, and cross‐functional teams to deliver solutions aligned to business objectives.
  • Communicate technical issues, risks, dependencies, and roadblocks clearly and proactively.
  • Support testing and implementation activities, including troubleshooting and post‐deployment validation.
  • Contribute to clear technical documentation and handoffs to sustainment/operations.

Sustainment & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and enhance existing applications and automation solutions.
  • Troubleshoot issues across applications, integrations, and data pipelines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Support ongoing enhancements and continuous improvement work.

Team Support & Professional Growth

  • Support and mentor junior engineers as needed.
  • Apply judgment and experience to plan tasks and meet delivery commitments.
  • Continuously expand technical skills and stay current with relevant technologies.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 3–5 years of software engineering experience in an enterprise or technical environment
  • 3–5 years of experience developing against Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL databases
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and SDLC
  • Experience developing automation and data‐driven solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‐technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‐solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience
  • 4+ years of Oracle database development experience
  • Experience integrating legacy or enterprise information systems
  • Hands‐on experience with:
  • C#
  • Python
  • Excel VBA
  • Microsoft Power Apps
  • Microsoft Power Automate
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience supporting SLA‐driven operational environments
