Job description

Associate Data Engineer (Snowflake | SQL | Python | Azure)

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Data Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of cloud-based data solutions using Snowflake on Microsoft Azure. In this role, you will contribute to building scalable data pipelines, maintaining reliable data models, and enabling secure, high-performance analytics for business stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their data engineering career who is eager to deepen their expertise in modern cloud data platforms and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and related Azure services
  • Support the development and management of Snowflake objects including databases, schemas, tables, views, streams, tasks, and stored procedures
  • Ingest and integrate data from multiple sources into Azure Data Lake Storage and Snowflake, working with both structured and semi-structured datasets
  • Help implement data quality checks, monitoring, and error-handling processes to ensure reliability and integrity of data pipelines
  • Participate in performance optimization efforts across Snowflake and Azure (e.g., query tuning, warehouse sizing, clustering, and scheduling)
  • Follow security and governance best practices, including role-based access control (RBAC), key management, and secure data access across Azure and Snowflake
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Contribute to CI/CD processes (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) for version control, testing, and deployment of data pipelines

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience or strong foundational knowledge of Snowflake, including SQL development and basic performance optimization
  • Experience or exposure to building data pipelines within Azure (ADF preferred; familiarity with Synapse, Databricks, or Azure Functions is a plus)
  • Proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of Python (or similar scripting language)
  • Understanding of core data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling and ETL/ELT methodologies
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and cloud-based data integration patterns
  • Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Snowflake query history
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting data pipelines for AI/ML use cases (e.g., feature engineering, training datasets, inference pipelines)
  • Familiarity with Azure AI/ML services such as Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, or Azure OpenAI
